Sad Depressed WomanOutpatient drug rehab allows patients to seek treatment without taking weeks out of their lives for an inpatient program’s residential requirements. Outpatient rehab focuses on teaching coping mechanisms and skills to patients so they can maintain recovery when they are no longer in a substance abuse program. This rehabilitation commonly includes counseling and behavioral therapies.

In most cases, outpatient treatment requires patients to go to a rehabilitation facility during the day and return home or to a sober living facility at night. Depending on the program intensity, you may meet daily, a few times a week or only once or twice a week. Treatments may take place in hospital-like settings or a more relaxed environment.

Why Use an Outpatient Program?

Outpatient programs have many benefits. Most intensive outpatient programs (IOP) meet at least four days a week with up to five hours of treatment on those days. General outpatient programs, also known as partial hospitalization, may meet only once or twice a week for an hour or two at a time. Both programs may offer:

  • Flexibility, which helps clients keep up with responsibilities outside treatment such as work, schooling or family obligations
  • Individualized treatment plans, which provide a foundation of counseling and psychotherapy. The goal is to find the root cause of addiction and help develop healthy strategies to manage that cause. Overall, education and support reduce the risk of future relapses.
  • Alternative programs and complementary therapies used alongside traditional treatment to provide better outcomes. The goal is to meet the patient’s needs and address them through the correct therapies for their personality and level of addiction.
  • Reduced costs. Outpatient therapies are typically less expensive than inpatient programs since they require fewer treatment hours and no residency.

At Serene Beginnings, we have two treatment programs. One is an IOP program, while the other is a general outpatient program. We’ve designed our programs to help you balance your recovery with the demands of your normal day-to-day life.

IOP Program

Our IOP program takes place in the evening and is an effective and ideal option for our clients who work or have other obligations during the day. If you have a supportive and healthy home environment, this may replace an inpatient program completely. During IOP treatment, you’ll have an individualized plan for recovery and benefit from ten focused hours of treatment each week. This treatment plan is comprised of a three-hour group session that meets three times per week from 6 pm to 9 pm, as well as additional individual counseling.

General Outpatient Program (PHP)

Our general outpatient program (PHP partial hospitalization) usually comes after a client graduates from our intensive program. The program offers more time away from treatment, which gives patients time to practice their new recovery skills in day-to-day life. While practicing, they’re still receiving the support crucial at this stage of recovery.

Our general outpatient program has two group or individual sessions each week and encourages responsibility and long-term recovery.
